Spanish and International Health, B.S.
Clemson University '23
About Me
Hey, y'all! My name is Jordan Lewis, and I am a Spanish and International Health major at Clemson University. I am originally from Birmingham, AL, so when I applied to Clemson University, I had no idea what it was. Likewise, before coming to Clemson, I was completely unsure about what I wanted to major in until I found this program. At first, it seemed daunting Spanish, public health, and study abroad all happening at once, but I grew to love and adore it so much. Each class represented throughout this portfolio has to taught me so much about public health, disparities, the Spanish language and culture, and what it truly means to be a global citizen.

With this degree, I will be able to apply and attend medical school to become a multilingual primary care physician who focuses on public health work and initiatives. The language learning will not end once my time at Clemson does but will continue for the rest of my life. I now have a host of languages I would love to learn, and I know Clemson has given me the foundation to start. Every day, I think about my future patients and what I would want in a physician if I were in their shoes. Something that continuously appears is being able to make someone feel heard, seen, and comfortable. This is not only through culturally competent care but also linguistically.
